Royal Tunbridge Wells is a town in Kent, England, 50 kilometres southeast of central London. It lies at the northern tip of Highweald East near the Sussex border, and the High Rocks rock formations illustrate its sandstone geology. The town was a spa during its restoration and a fashionable holiday resort under Beau Nache in the mid-17th century. Pantile and its stone springs attracted visitors who wanted to enjoy the water. Although the popularity of the hot spring town has waned due to the rise of sea bathing, the town still receives a large amount of tourism income.
The town has a population of approximately 56,500 and is the administrative centre of the Tunbridge Wells Borough and the Tunbridge Wells Parliamentary Constituency.
